Choosing a Word of the Year instead of making New Years resolutions is something I’ve done for the last 10 years. Apparently it takes people an average of 32 days to break their resolutions (and mine were often forgotten long before that!) For me, resolutions were restrictive and prescriptive, usually depriving myself of something or telling myself how I used to be was ‘wrong’.
