Choosing a Word of the Year instead of making New Years resolutions is something I’ve done for at least the last 10 years. It apparently takes people an average of 32 days to break their resolutions (and mine were often forgotten long before that!) For me, resolutions were restrictive and prescriptive, usually depriving myself of something or telling myself how I used to be was ‘wrong’.

A Word of the Year (WOTY) to me is about awareness, keeping your eyes open to where you can apply your word in your life, every day. Which is why having your word printed on everyday items that you’ll use all the time makes such sense. Every time you reach for it, every time you catch a glimpse of yourself in the glass of a shop window or someone comments on it, there’s a little reminder of your word. Your word that inspires you, lifts you up, makes you feel brave, determined, proud or reminds you what you really want to focus on. Gently guiding you towards what really matters.

All of this years WOTY designs include a botanical design to represent the growth you’ll see in yourself and your life over the course of the year when you implement your Word.

At the bottom of the design is Latin text which reads, “ANNI VOX : INTENTE ELECTUM” Which translates to - WORD OF THE YEAR : CHOSEN WITH INTENTION

As well as your word printed on the front with the year underneath, there are two hidden, encouraging messages printed inside your tote. “Creating an intentional life. One day at a time.” A reminder to honour the intentions you set for yourself with your word and encouraging you to focus often on the difference your word can make in your life. This is your year to achieve what you set out to do.

ABOUT THE BAG

The Natural colour tote has a brown print. All other totes have a beige print.

The tote bag is made from 100% canvas cotton. It’s a 10oz weight fabric to it’s nice and thick (but not stiff). It’s a much higher quality and more durable than the standard tote bags you might find in a shop. The handles are made from a soft cotton webbing. They’re wide enough that if you’re carrying something heavy in your bag, it will still be nice and comfortable.

The bag can be carried by hand or the handle is long enough to pop on your shoulder for carrying as well.

It’s got a 22 litre capacity (which means it’s pretty large!)
